Oh spring... where art thou?

Melbourne is notorious for having four seasons in one day. Lately though, I've been feeling that all we are getting are the cooler seasons. Where is the sun? Did spring not make its appearance last month? Why has she forsaken us? And why does this perturb me so much?

Let me tell you a little story. The story begins with me complaining about how much clothing I have, and how I can never find anything to wear when I need it (nothing new if you talk to girls frequently). I one day have a lightbulb moment and decide to pack away all my winter clothing and anything chunky and knitted (jackets included). Where do these all go once I've packed them up? Because I have no room, it goes into storage, of course! So that when it starts getting chilly I can put all my summery stuff into storage and bring out all my winter stuff... *snorts*. Let's be honest, I'll most likely forget about it and buy new winter stuff because once it gets cold again, I'll be complaining that I have nothing to wear! But anyway...

So after 4 days of blissful sun in Melbourne, and spending some time in Italy where the weather was beautiful, I come back to Melbourne and find that it is experiencing an ice age in the middle of spring. Talk about bad timing! I am forced to wear the same thin, so-called "wind cheater" (such false advertising) over my chunkiest hoodie and gym pants when I have to go outside (which is every single day). All I have sitting in my makeshift closet right now (which is an entire story all on its own) are pretty, summery, light clothing that I cannot wait to put on and strut around in. Although...

... is the universe secretly doing me a favour by preventing me from baring my flabby belly to innocent bystanders? Should I exercise to be taut for summer, so people don't experience second hand embarrassment for me? Am I just being given more time to get my body into shape? And if so, then I think Melbourne will be in a permafrost state because my laziness knows no bounds.

Spring, where art though? Goddammit, I just want my cellulite ridden thighs to jiggle in the warm breeze already! C'mon spring... show your face!

Snapchat evidence of me, freezing in my room.

Cute & Retro

During the Chadstone VIP night not long ago, I made two purchases: 2 pairs of Guess shorts.  I really did not need anymore pairs of denim shorts, but who can pass up 50% off?  I will get a lot of use out of the lighter pair, because while it's not the most stylish item on the planet, it is extremely comfortable and I live for comfort.  The darker pair are my first ever pair of high waisted shorts, initially I wasn't going to buy them because they're so not me, but I liked the way it looked when I tried it on and thought I could make it work.

Here is the styled high waisted shorts.  Nothing special, I paired it with a floaty, floral middift singlet top that I got on a whim (it's also by Guess lol) because it was so cute but I eventually realised that I would never wear it because I don't have a belly to be proud of.  But with the high waisted shorts, I can finally wear it out!  What do you think?  Personally, I think it looks retro and cute.  A perfect girly summer outfit.

PS.  I hate my skin.  I really, really do!  Argh :(

LOOKBOOK.nu

I always get inspired in springtime to add to my wardrobe and wear cute, dainty outfits.  I dunno what it is!  The vitamin D I'm finally getting from the sun, perhaps?  Anyway, I joined lookbook.nu yesterday and I put up a crappy little look today, using my ancient 7.2MP Sony Cybershot that really should just be laid to rest.  The photography is shocking but I wanted to start putting together outfits for the site so I put it up anyway.  If you're on lookbook.nu, come swing by and say hi!  Here's the link to my crappy first look: Cowgirl Princess.  Hopefully I'll get a new camera soon and I'll be able to take better photos!  Or better yet, find someone to be my photographer... Any takers?!

Flattering Tops for Spring

Spring is nearly here, and I have found the perfect tops to flaunt around in!  If you are anything like me, then you like to hide your baby beer belly from the world and pretend you have washboard abs. If you think I have a flat tummy, well, no.  I don't.  It's all a lie.  The tops I chose hide my flab very well.  I've had two kids, so I can promise you that I do not have a supermodel body (but oh, how I wish!)

All the tops are from Guess.  I purchased them last Monday, so most of the items should still be available, although the one pictured left was a sale item so there may be none left.  I picked them out after trying them on and seeing how they flattered my body.  On the rack, they don't look great.  In fact, they look like an ugly mass of material.  But once draped on the body, you can see the style and they are also great for the warmer seasons as they are light, airy and cute!  Can you guess what my favourite colour is?!

Approx $70 or $80 (I forgot!)

Approx $80

On sale for just $35 AUD
All these tops would would go well with denim shorts (as pictured), jeans (either light wash or dark wash, skinny legs, bootleg, whatever!) and even a cute denim skirt (the shorter, the better).  Wedges would pull the look together and truly make it a spring time outfit.  Guess have a lot of cute tops out right now, all perfect for spring/summer.  I wish I could rob a Guess store!  They are one of my all time favourite brands.

I also bought a plain black dress which was on sale.  It's nothing special, just a cute LBD.  I have so many LBDs already but none with a strap like this one (which can be worn either over the back or over the chest):
On sale for $120 AUD
So, yeah... Guess what I'll be wearing this spring?!

Proud New Owner of Hot Pumps!

Oh my golly gosh. I am in love with my new shoes. They're from Aldo, and I bought them for $209 AUD. I absolutely cannot wait to wear them out. There's just one problem. My partner doesn't know about this new purchase of mine (or any recent purchase, for that matter)! He doesn't like me spending my money on "frivolous" sh*t, as he puts it. But c'mon. Shoes are a necessity!

Try telling him that! I suppose he's got a point though. I don't work, I'm a stay at home mum. He's the bread winner in this family. So really, he does have a right to tell me where the money goes. But when I see something I like, I just have to have it! I obsess over it and even dream about it. It doesn't stop until I get the item I so badly want. So there's only one way to stop obsessing over it, and that's to add the item to my collection.

I have a whole collection of dresses and shoes I haven't worn, simply because I see them and I tell myself I cannot be without them. What if I go to a party that has a red only dress code? What if bubble dresses come back in fashion? What if I get invited to P.Diddy's famous white only bash? (Dream on, Rin!) There's so many events that I could potentially be attending, and it's best if I have the right outfit for it so I don't need to do the whole last minute rush thing.

So these new shoes I got are perfect for a night out wearing a little black dress. Or even dressed down with jeans and a sexy top for a dinner or something similar. I cannot wait to wear them. I just need to know how to tell my partner about this new love of my life. I'm sure he'll love them once they're on me. He just won't like how I acquired them! Oh dear... what to do?!

Oops I Did a Haul...

Um... so yes I went shopping yesterday with the intention of buying just a facial cleanser. What did I come home with? Philosophy's Purity Made Simple cleanser. Nars Laguna bronzer. Mac 195 concealer brush. And 4 tops from Forever New... two of them the same top, just in different colours. Hmm. From a budget of $42 for the cleanser to over $300 for bits and bobs. I don't even know where the money came from!

I love the tops though. The singlets will be my summer staple. They have sequins, yet they're casual, yet you can dress them up. I love it! And they other two tops are good just for dinners or movies. Which hopefully I'll be doing more of this summer, since my mum can take care of the kids more often.

I would've gotten a shoe as well, but they didn't have it in my size. A blessing, really. But I really liked those shoes! I did get them to order it in, though. But that doesn't mean I'll end up buying the shoe... right? Hmm!

Guess What I Got!

So I got two new tops from... can you guess where? Guess! Of course. I have a thing for Guess clothing. They make the best casual yet dressy tops. I got both the black tops for 25% off, and the dress I bought a few weeks earlier. When I see something I like from the store, I freak out and feel like I have to buy it because it'll be gone the next time I go there. It's happened once before, so I've learnt my lesson. You see something you like, you buy it then and there! Or lay-by it, at least.

So I went there today and got the two black tops. I also saw some hot shorts that I really like, but I need to try them on to see what they look like. I had my son with me so I couldn't, but it's on my to do list for next Tuesday (my one day off being a full-time mother)! I can't wait! If the shorts look good on me, then it's going on lay-by along with another halter top and maybe a summer cardi. I wish I were made of money! Then I woudn't have to lay-by.

I need to lose some weight to have the dress look good on me. Pot belly is never attractive. Since summer's around the corner, I really need to watch what I eat and get more active. It's harder than it sounds, believe me. Especially if you're a glutton and luurve chocolate! Hehe.

Uh-oh, I Bought Shoes!

I went out and bought these shoes today. Shhh! Don't tell the partner! He's forbidden me to buy anymore shoes as I have lots already, but I just had to have this one. It was 30% off! So now it's sitting in the boot of the car, hidden away. I don't know how I'm going to take it out of the car without him knowing. I also don't know when I'll get to wear them. I'll probably have to wait awhile before it's safe to do so! But they look hot with jeans.

I'm a little dissapointed, I wanted to buy two others but one style they didn't have, and one they did have and it looked great, but when I tried it on it wasn't comfortable at all. Like, it was digging into my toes and made my toes look all squishy. I wanted to get it but I know I wouldn't be able to wear them for long before they'd start to hurt, so I did the smart thing and let them go. They were so pretty though. *sobs* Why can't all shoes be comfy?!

I really want to go to a bigger store and look for the other one that I want. You can order it online, but my credit card is maxed out. Boo hoo! So I'm not sure what I can do just yet. I'll probably end up paying my credit card off just enough so I can purchase it. But if I order it and it arrives, won't P be like "wtf"?! Oh, the joys of having a partner. NOT. I don't want to be sneaky but I don't want to be deprived either. If I want something, I have to have it. Why can't men understand that?

The State of my Wardrobe

I believe that the state of your house says alot about you. Prior to me moving out of my parents home in 2008, I was a neat freak. Everything had it's place and I just loved having a tidy room. However, since moving into a place of my own, I've let things slide a little and now I just feel so messy! I think it's got something to do with the antidepressants I'm taking (for postnatal depression), which apparently cures OCD. Maybe I had obsessive compulsive disorder and that was why I was so tidy? Hmm!

Here are some pics of the state of my wardrobe. It's not too bad, but I wish I could organize it better and keep it tidy! If and when I get the chance to clean it up, I'll post the new pics too.
