Bye Bye Beer Belly!

Let me show you something that no one has seen before... well, not for a few years, anyway!  Say hello to my little friend, my beer belly.  Isn't she so pudgy and cute?

Say hello to my little friend... my beer belly!
This gut is due to too many guilty food pleasures and not enough exercise.  Giving birth twice may have had something to do with it, but even if I had never given birth I would still have this beer belly.  Why?  Because of my sheer laziness.  I eat whatever takes my fancy and only get out of bed to make meals for my sons and I.

There's only one way to get rid of belly fat, and that is to sweat (from exercise) like there's no tomorrow.  For the most part, the rest of my body I can deal with.  My thighs do touch, but it'll stop once I start exercising.  My arms are quite muscular and bulky looking due to pole dancing lessons I took a few years ago, but I guess that's a good thing?  I hate how it looks but I hope that the muscle eats up all my fat, lol.  I have an OK body, my friends are always harping on about how tall & skinny I am (which I'm not!  I'm only 5'5 and weigh a whopping 60kg) but I must admit, I've been very lazy and not taking care of myself as a woman should be.  So I'm... well, rather frumpy looking these days.

I hate my belly.
That up there is what I look like every day after eating.  My gut size fluctuates depending on how much I've eaten.  In the morning I have only a tiny little bump.  By midday, I'm starting to look a little pregnant, and come dinner time, I look like I'm overdue to give birth.  Ok, slight exaggeration, but it does get bigger by the end of the day!  I don't like it very much.

Belly from the side.  Maybe I'm pregnant and just don't know it?  And if I'm pregnant then damn, that was one very immaculate conception!
I have a dream... A dream to get rid of my belly once and for all.  There's only one way to do this: hard work and determination.  And I'm going to start NOW.

Take one last look at it.  After today, you'll never see it again (I hope)!
So here is my plan: eat less junky food and exercise more.  It sounds simple enough, but for someone like me, this is going to take a miracle.  I am probably the most lazy person on the planet and I absolutely love to eat.  But, from this day forth I shall make sure that I eat only food that will be nutritious for my body (but allow for treats here and there, of course).  I'll try to exercise at least half an hour a day, whether that be walking to the shops or dancing along to Yo Gabba Gabba with my son.

Hopefully, by the time the new year rolls in, I'll be a lean, mean, sexy machine (can you say DELUSIONAL?)  My aim is not to lose weight (numbers don't matter to me), but to lose centimeters off my waist.  So why not join me if you need to lose a few centimeters yourself (or kilos) and if you're super slim already, then wish me luck on this endeavour because I'm going to need it!

Get Sexy For Summer***

Ok, folks! We now have less than 3 months to get sexy for summer. Nobody wants to see your bits wobbling (unless they're your boobies, of course)! Three months (ish) is ample time to get into shape for the hottest season. Don't let this year be another one where you're hiding under layers of clothing and using "fear of sunburn" as an excuse. Summertime is SKIN time! Let it all out, baby. You don't need to look like Miranda Kerr, you just need to feel good about yourself. And the only way you'll feel good about yourself is if you LOOK FREAKIN' AMAZING! Here's how:

Stop shoveling food in your mouth.  Well, fatty, junky food, anyway.  Spring is abundant with fresh fruit that you could snack on instead of that Snickers bar.  It's just as easy to carry an apple in your handbag as it is to carry a packet of chips.  And why bother with making dinner every night?  Cut up a whole heap of vegies, toss it all together and keep it in the fridge until you're ready to eat it.  Just dress it in lemon juice or balsamic vinegar and a dash of olive oil and you've got yourself a quick, healthy meal.  Boring, yes.  But think of all the fun to be had when you're skinny!  Really, the key is to eat only when you're hungry (fruit, salad or a tiny portion of a meal) and stop when you're full.

Say goodbye to fuzz.  Winter is well and truly gone.  So too is your excuse as to why you didn't shave your legs.  Or wax your underarms.  And, uh... what is that poking out of your bikini bottoms?!  Summer is not the time to be lazy with de-fuzzing.  You need to get into the habit NOW of shaving your legs every few days (truly lazy girls like myself can let it slide for a week with creative outfits).  Underarms should be done every week or two, at the very least (epilators are da bomb diggity!)  And your bush should be trimmed weekly or ripped out every 4-6 weeks.  When your partner surprises you with a weekend getaway at a fancy resort with a pool as its main attraction, you don't want to be caught out, do you?  And ladies, please remember that you are a woman and that a moustache belongs on a man!

Have regular foot sex with your runners.  Yes.  You heard me.  Your runners need some loving.  Insert your feet into them and pound them onto the pavement as you walk/jog/run for half an hour a day.  Seriously, half an hour a day is all it takes to see results.  If you've got kids, do what I do and buckle them in the pram or strap them on your torso and bring them with you.  Think of it as resistance training or extra weights.  The more, the merrier.  Whatever you do, just make sure you kinda work up a sweat for half an hour every day.  Your fat will just melt away! (Assuming you're eating well)

Scrub-a-dub-dub.  Because exfoliation is the key to soft, glowing skin.  Every week or so (depending on how tolerant your skin is), you should be sloughing away the dead skin off your body.  You can use a washcloth, a sponge, a pouf or a body scrub.  Personally, I like body scrubs as I'm super lazy and can't be bothered cleaning washcloths and such.  You can make your own scrub using olive oil (or any oil your prefer, the best is coconut!) and raw sugar (or castor sugar for sensitive skin).  If you use tanning lotions, giving your skin a good scrub beforehand will give you the best results that will last longer.

Become a slapper.  Every time you get out of the shower, slap on some moisturiser and rub it in to keep your skin looking its best.  If you find this too cumbersome, pick a moisturiser that you absolutely love the scent of.  This will make you want to use it and it will be much more enjoyable rubbing that lotion all over your body every day.  And if you're really lazy and cannot be bothered at all, ask your lover to do it for you.  I'm sure they won't mind!

Keep your feet in check.  The warmer months are when our feet are on display the most.  If you're a true aussie like me, your feet are well acquainted to the good old flip flops.  But don't embarrass yourself with those nasty, crusty, dry, cracked, hard-as-rock heels.  Like your body, your feet should be getting a regular exfoliation too.  Pumice stones or foot files are great at getting rid of the thick, dry skin but without maintenance, it'll all go to waste.  You need to moisturise your feet daily- a light AHA lotion is great for daytime!  Night is when the magic really happens, though... but only if you do this: rub your feet after a long, hard day with a specific foot cream or even just some vaseline or oil.  Put on some cotton socks.  Sleep.  When you wake up, your feet will be oh so smooth!  But remember, you must keep it maintained with regular exfoliation and moisturising!

Harness your inner gymnast and try to do the splits.  Did you know that the more flexible your are, the longer you'll live?  Every single day, incorporate some stretching into your routine.  Watching TV?  Get on the floor and spread those legs, baby!  Anytime you find yourself doing something mundane, try to do some kind of stretch.  Best to follow a specific DVD, such as yoga or pilates.  But how does this get you sexy for summer?  Pfft.  I don't write for the sake of seeing my own words (or do I?!)  Stretching actually tones up your body...  It creates long, lean muscles and the best thing is that it makes sex a lot more fun!  Yeah, I bet that got you motivated to stretch!

Ok...  So do what I say and I you will be feeling great about yourself by the time summer actually gets here.  Less fat, more lean, not so hairy... You will be an absolute beach babe!  It's great not worrying about slipping into that bikini.  Just try to remember that when you're craving chocolate or too lazy to shave your legs!

*** I wrote this for myself.  It's quite superficial and some may find it offensive, but it's all fun and games.  It's written purely to try to get me off my somewhat fat bum and do something about my body, so that come summertime people will be stopping me on the streets and asking me if I'm Miranda Kerr... (We're all allowed to dream, ok?!)

Guess What I Got!

So I got two new tops from... can you guess where? Guess! Of course. I have a thing for Guess clothing. They make the best casual yet dressy tops. I got both the black tops for 25% off, and the dress I bought a few weeks earlier. When I see something I like from the store, I freak out and feel like I have to buy it because it'll be gone the next time I go there. It's happened once before, so I've learnt my lesson. You see something you like, you buy it then and there! Or lay-by it, at least.

So I went there today and got the two black tops. I also saw some hot shorts that I really like, but I need to try them on to see what they look like. I had my son with me so I couldn't, but it's on my to do list for next Tuesday (my one day off being a full-time mother)! I can't wait! If the shorts look good on me, then it's going on lay-by along with another halter top and maybe a summer cardi. I wish I were made of money! Then I woudn't have to lay-by.

I need to lose some weight to have the dress look good on me. Pot belly is never attractive. Since summer's around the corner, I really need to watch what I eat and get more active. It's harder than it sounds, believe me. Especially if you're a glutton and luurve chocolate! Hehe.

Hoodies!

I went out today to the Nike warehouse on Smith Street and bought two hoodies. I love hoodies, they're so comfy and cover your body up, which is good for when you're having a fat day. Lately I've been having lots of fat days, even though I'm on a "diet". So I got a white hooded jumper and a navy blue zip hoodie, it didn't cost too much and I absolutely LOVE it! I have a feeling they'll get more wear than my Burberry trench coat this winter, which I kinda feel guilty about as I was bugging the bf to get it for me for my birthday. Isn't it ironic that I'll be wearing a $50 hoodie more than I'll be wearing a $2000 jacket?

Remember those ugly red pimple spots I was talking about on my face? I bought some bio-oil for it, I hope it works! I have noticed my skin is clearing up but the spots are still there which I think looks gross. My period finished a while ago and my face is breaking out less, so I'm guessing the acne is definately due to hormones. I might also use the bio-oil for my stretchmarks from pregnancy, if I can remember to apply it twice daily!

As for my diet, well... It's not really going that great, I haven't been sticking to it. I've had dessert after most of my meals and I'm not eating any less. But I did hop on the scales today and I'm at 58kg (128lbs) so I've lost 2kgs... unless it's all just water. Which I suspect it is as I didn't drink much today! Hmm...

Anyway! Tomorrow I hope to play around with make up and take photos so I can enter some contests. I'm a stay at home mum so you'd think I have lots of time for stuff like that, but between feeding Dante and cleaning the house and keeping him entertained, it is just hard to find the time. I'm lucky if I get to pee alone! So hopefully I'll get some pics up tomorrow. If not, then you'll know I've been a busy mum!

I Wish I Had Her Body!

I ladore all the Victoria's Secret angels but my fav would definately be Miranda Kerr. Not just because she is a fellow aussie! I've admired her ever since she won the DOLLY 1997 modelling competition. I remember being 12 and wanting to be just like her.

Let me tell you a little secret- I've always wanted to be a model. Since the age of 10 or 11, I think. I used to will myself to grow taller so that I could one day be plucked from the crowds of a busy shopping center and be "discovered". Sadly, I never grew past 5'5 (165cm) so my modelling dreams were shattered. But thinking about it now, I could never have been a model- I had bad teeth and skin!

As I mentioned in a previous post, I've started a "diet" to lose some extra weight I've gained. I must admit, it's not going too well. I've been eating pretty much everything that pases my line of vision. That includes chocolate cake and honey roasted cashews. D'oh! So I thought I needed some encouragement to help me stick to healthy eating. That's where Miranda Kerr comes in. She is a little on the skinny side, but she has the physique I am after and I'm quick to put down the deep fried chicken when I think of her.

I'm not fat but I'm not where I want to be. I just want to lose the 4kg (9lbs) I've gained since last year and lose my little pot belly. My body shape is a bit like Miranda's when I'm really skinny, so it's not like I'm striving for something that's never gonna happen. I've been thin before, I'll be thin agian. Hopefully before Khem's birthday, so if she throws a party I'll look hot! Hi Khem! Hehehe!

I must try harder with this diet of mine!

The First Day of my Diet

I have finally decided to do something about my weight. Currently I weight 60kgs (132lbs) which means that over the past 8 months I have managed to gain 4kgs (9lbs). It doesn't sound like a lot but do you know what a pound of fat looks like? It's not pretty. And there's 9 of those ugly yellow lumps all over my body! Yuck!

9lbs really does make a difference- my jeans are tighther, my belly is pudgy and my face is fuller. So I plan on losing the weight by watching what I eat and limiting the amount of fat I consume. Today, for breakfast I had a bowl of cereal (Nutrigrain, it was all we had) and two slices of watermelon. Typically what I have is two slices of buttered toast, cereal, yoghurt and a hot chocolate with marshmellows (I'm addicted to it!) So really, I usually eat more than my body needs. By limiting the amount of calories I consume I'm hoping to lose the weight quickly.

Of course, what diet is complete without exercise? I'm not a huge fan of it, but I will attempt to do some form of exercise everyday, or at least every other day. I don't have a lot of time on my hands because my 11 month old demands a lot of my attention so it's going to be hard but I'll work it out somehow.

Today for lunch I plan on having a burger from Grill'd. I know, I know. I should be nibbling on carrot sticks and what not if I want to lose weight, but that is so not me. Take away my food and I will eat more of it! But whereas before, I'd have the burger with chips, this time I'll go without. So you see, I am making some positive changes. The only problem I have will be to stick to my "diet"... my love of food tends to overcome my desire to lose weight. But hopefully, by blogging about it, I will be more inclined to stick to it. Wish me luck!
